CAMRIS seeks an Epidemiology Strategic Information Advisor for an upcoming task order under the International Technical, Operation, and Professional Support Services (ITOPSS) IDIQ with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Epidemiology Strategic Information Advisor will conduct epidemiology, surveillance, research, and strategic communication activities to meet the CDC Dominican Republic's needs.

  • Design methodologies for gathering information from national and international partners and communities to aid in the design, interpretation, and conduct of epidemiological studies and investigations.
  • Define analysis plans; determine and perform data analyses; identify methodological limitations and interpret study results.
  • Utilize existing CDC-approved data management systems to support epidemiologic practices.
  • Utilize laboratory resources in support of epidemiologic activities.
  • Disseminate epidemiologic information through a variety of media in a manner that is appropriately tailored to the audience of interest.
  • Develop, track, and record progress toward program objectives and goals.
  • Provide administration and oversight to related projects and activities to meet program goals and achieve agency objectives.
  • Uses scientific information to engage policymakers at all levels.
  • Establish frameworks for developing and evaluating public health interventions based on scientific evidence.
  • Using CDC-approved desktop tools, gather relevant public health information and data through epidemiological studies, assessments, database and literature searches, and collaboration with others, to inform investigations to address public health problems.
  • Define surveillance data needs and limitations.
  • Provide epidemiologic and surveillance subject-matter expertise to the Ministry of Health in the design, implementation, and evaluation of MOH-owned and operated surveillance systems.
  • Write and submit articles on epidemiological studies to medical and public health journals.
  • Attend CDC approved conferences and make presentations as required.
  • Develop training curriculum and conduct training on epidemiologic and surveillance data systems.
  • Participate in meetings and technical working groups on epidemiology and surveillance data systems.
  • Develop quality assurance reports that include the Business Accountability Review (BAR), Country monitoring and accountability system (CMAS), and other programmatic reports as required.
  • Complete and maintain up to date certification for all required trainings to include, but not be limited to, Project Officer Training, Grants Management, Security Awareness, and Ethics training.

  • MD or PhD in a public health related science.

  • Four years of experience working within a public health institution.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Previous experience with the CDC is highly preferred.
