Market Systems Director, Honduras
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Market Systems Director for the USAID-funded Honduras Transforming Market Systems (TMS) Project. The objective of TMS is to foster competitive, resilient, and inclusive market systems that provide increased economic opportunities that incorporate poor, marginalized Hondurans and reduce incentives to migrate. The Market SystemsDirector will be responsible for addressing business enabling environment barriers to MSME growth and systemic issues constraining development of competitive value chains in Honduras, including tourism and value-added agriculture.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team and work to improve cross-sectoral business enabling environment to strengthen private sector investment and economic growth.
- Convene cross-sectoral stakeholders for facilitated problem-solving, economic planning, and coordination (government, private sector, and community groups).
- Facilitate municipal-level identification and prioritization of BEE constraints and coordinate with stakeholders to develop and implement relevant action plans.
- Develop cross-cutting mechanisms (financial, information, legal, etc.) to improve resiliency and reduce barriers for businesses to pursue new market opportunities.
- Work directly with the technical leads to plan, design, and or/manage specific collaboration, learning and adaptation strategies and activities.
- Assist in developing, capturing, sharing, and testing methods, models, and tools to advance collaboration between multiple USAID programs.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in Honduras, preferable in areas of business, economics or political economy.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with successful market systems development projects with management responsibility, ensuring effective integration of project activities with overall business/program objectives.
- Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of market systems using facilitation approaches.
- Proven experience in multi-stakeholder engagement; bringing together diverse players around shared issues.
- Ability to write coherent and analytical reports is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel on a regular basis.
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish required, English preferred.
