Rural Finance Specialist, Honduras
ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking an experienced Rural Finance Specialist for an anticipated Rural Competitiveness and Sustainability Project funded by InterAmerican Development Bank in Honduras. The new activity is envisioned to start in 2021. The Rural Finance Specialist will formulate and implement investment plans, linking with the project’s finance component and other sources of funding available. The position will be based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation and implementation of investment plans and their link with the Project Finance component and other sources of funding available in the intervention area
- Identify obstacles to accessing finance that are encountered by various SMEs that are working along the targeted value chains
- Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist to identify feasible M&E indicators and target results that speak to finance accessed by participants via various mechanisms
- Design and implement the follow-up system for the implementation of the investment plans and the situation of the credits managed with the support of the project
- Serve as a conduit of information on financing opportunities in support of SMEs and link participants to existing programs designed to facilitate access to finance for SMEs
- Facilitate the links between actors for the generation of productive alliances for their investments and respective financing
- Structure investments by producers and competitive companies in physical and working capital investments that can effectively benefit from credit resources or guarantee instruments
- Coordinate, assist and participate in the collection of data and information regarding indicators focusing on access to finance
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering, agroindustry, agribusiness, agricultural economics, or finance linked to the agrifood sector and a master's degree in finance or similar area is required.
- Minimum 12 years of work experience including 8 years of specific experience in projects related to the financing of small rural producers, formal financial system, and alternative financial system including rural banks, community banks, or suppliers of inputs.
- Experience with agriculture productivity; agribusiness and market development is preferred.
- Experience with INVEST-H and/or any other international donor funded project is preferred.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
- Familiarity/experience in the Dry Corridor is desirable.
